What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathic Manual Therapy is a natural, hands on and holistic approach to healthcare.  The body has an inherent ability to restore its health.  It is therefore the intention of the osteopathic manual therapist to optimize the self healing mechanism of the body, through an extensive knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and biomechanics.

How can Osteopathy help me?

Fertility

Osteopathy can prepare the body for an optimal environment for conceiving.  Osteopathy seeks to restore any structural or biomechanical imbalances that can compromise the “nesting” of the embryo or dysfunction of the reproductive systems.

Pregnancy and Post Pregnancy Treatment

During pregnancy, osteopathic treatments help the body accommodate transformations that may cause low back pain, neck pain, morning sickness, heartburn, constipation, frequent urination, sciatica, and circulatory issues. Osteopathy also helps to optimize pregnancy space to increase comfort and allow baby to develop in the best conditions, with an ideal position.

During the postpartum period, our team can help restore balance and the body’s original internal organization. Bringing the skeletal system and the organs in good relationship using connective tissue will also help to release postpartum stresses.

Pediatrics

Osteopathy can restore comfort and function to babies who are suffering. Osteopathy can help with:

●      Colic, constipation, reflux

●      Latching/feeding difficulties, tongue tie, mouth breathing

●      Torticollis, Plagiocephaly, limited neck mobility

●  Ear, throat, and nose concerns such as otitis/ ear infections

●  Difficulties focusing or concentration in school
